The impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health

Written By: Clare Tutuana-Social Accountability & CSR Officer

The challenges remain in the implementation of our Responsible Sourcing Policy (RSP) more so as a Unit of Certification under The FISH Standard for Crew.

However, this does not deter the focus on the due diligence process of our management systems through social audits carried out internally, under second- party and external third-party audit program annually.

We perceive this to be a step in the right direction to minimize and eliminate risks associated with fishing activities and labour practices onboard our fishing vessels.

We care about the fisher's lives out at sea and our responsibility is to ensure the safety and health of our fishers as well as to adhere to good labour practices in the fishing industry.

The impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health is an ongoing hurdle in the fight to keep lives safe from these challenges.

The fishing industry is committed to ensuring safety and health is prioritized by introducing the use of organic methods that do not harm the environment and the use of technology that yields a good harvest through sustainable sourcing.
