FIA PNG tuna members investing in PNG to generate more than 2000 Local Jobs

Two FIA PNG tuna member companies are investing in Lae, PNG.

Frabelle PNG Limited is investing more than 6Kmil in a Cold store with a 1000 MT capacity for whole round frozen tuna, This investment is expected to create at least 200 to 300 direct jobs. Meanwhile, the Majestic Seafood Corporation will re-open its operation this year, providing direct jobs to 2000 people.

Frabelle Group Senior Vice President, Agusto Natividad, said the project was a reflection of the company’s confidence in the PNG government and reforms of the Seafood sector. Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister Jelta Wong said that these jobs are possible with strong government support and good policies that encourage investment in the fisheries sector in PNG.
