FIA PNG members attending the 20th Western & Central Pacific Fisheries Commission meeting



A delegation from the Fishing Industry Association of Papua New Guinea is attending the 20th Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) held by The Cook Islands. They join the government delegation of Papua New Guinea

This five-day WCPFC meeting is so important for the future of the Pacific Communities and Countries that depend on Tuna Fishing, to maintain the Economic, Environmental, and Social Sustainability of our fisheries. Some of the item agendas are key for the responsible management of tuna stocks:

We intend to be a voice in the PNG delegation and demonstrate with our Responsible Sourcing Policy Initiative (FIA PNG RSP) how our fleet implements and complies with the WCPFC CMM. It is a journey of continuous improvement and we wish to come back home with good news for future generations.
