The Fishing Industry Association of Papua New Guinea (FIA PNG) has proudly announced the widespread recognition of its 2025 Five-Year Impact Report, which has been warmly received by partners, stakeholders, and international audiences.

Highlights from the Chairman’s desk include:

  • SPC will publish a condensed version of the report in their newsletter.

  • Islands Business will feature it in their August 2026 issue and distribute copies at the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Palau.

  • INFOFISH will release a 5,000-word article during the Tuna Bangkok Conference in September 2026.

  • Global networks such as GSSI, GDST, and CASS have shared the report widely.

  • Media platforms like atuna.com and Undercurrentnews have published dedicated articles highlighting PNG’s role in responsible seafood sourcing.

  • The University of Amsterdam has invited FIA PNG to contribute a book chapter on tuna traceability.

These achievements reflect the growing influence of FIA PNG in promoting responsible sourcing, traceability, and sustainability—benefiting not only the fishing industry but also Papua New Guinea’s global image.

“These are very important intangible benefits for FIA and its members, the FIA PNG image, our Responsible Sourcing Policy, the Government through the National Fisheries Authority and PNG as a country.” – Sylvester B Pokajam, FIA President & Chairman
